After suffering a serious foot injury from a drunk driver in an accident while going towards school, she chose to not continue. The alternative high school she attended was for youth offenders and was sexually assaulted by a male instructor. Annie Lederman testified about the incident at trial along with another female student. In the following days, she encountered a few problematic classmates involved in drugs and other criminal activities. After graduating high school at the age of 17, Annie Lederman spent the next year volunteering, beginning by helping dolphins train in Hawaii before volunteering for a non-profit organization that was based in Central America aiding disadvantaged children.
